But I think DrRon said the vax was only approved in Australia in January this year. If that’s the case, I don’t think it’s unreasonable for them waiting for 6-12 months of data before they open the public purse for this thing. Not looking for an argument but just trying to understand the thinking here.

I think that's reasonable to wait for the data. But don't come out publically urging people to get it without mentioning the private cost. All it does is raise anxiety.

My understanding is that a PBS submission for Arexvy was made in the last few weeks. From there the process will take several months (at least). Outcome might still be yea or nay

However, whilst I’m here, heard a popping noise, top of right calf, now it’s sore….. My legs/feet don’t like me at the moment.

Better, thanks for asking. She's responded well to the Piptaz. Waiting for her to be discharged soon. She's spent 5 days in hospital.

You should see the other one……. Started off with something the size of a 10 cent piece, stress was originally the reason, but as said earlier, very difficult to get into see a dermatologist.

Just a question for those who might be in the know. I went to my GP today to get a referral for my 5 yearly Colonoscopy. He looked up the Gastroenterologist I 'normally' go to find that he had apparently retired. No message was sent to me regarding my medical records held there. The phone number is disconnected and his medical rooms are now shown as being occupied by a "Pain Clinic". I have rung another colonoscopy provider at the same large medical centre but they had no knowledge of what had happened.

Is there any way of tracking down who, if anyone, took over the practice? Perhaps the AMA? If not does it really matter? I have the note he sent to my GP after the last check with details of what he had seen and done. Back around 2005 I had some polyps removed by him but nothing of note has been found since.

It's no fuss really, just get a referral to another gastro. You may not even need a colonoscopy. These days they do a poo test - colonoscopy only if poo test comes back positive for blood or if you have symptoms. If you had polyps previously then I think you can get another Col. Medicare has clamped down on too many Col

The surgeon I used to see for stuff also did colonoscopies but he retired. My story very similar to yours re polops and annual colonoscopies for a while. My GP referred me to another local bloke he likes. Usually when he refers me he'll say something like "this is who I send my wife to".

NSW health or whoever looks after this won't send me test kits as they tell me "You are already under the care of a doctor for this".

The result will also be in your medical records at the hospital.

If you only saw that gastroenterologist for colonoscopies, both the hospital and your GP have the results. If you went for other gastro problems, then your GP should have a letter following the consults. Otherwise it is too late, unfortunately, once the specialist has retired and closed up shop. As there is a shortage of so many specialists, practices are no longer able be sold with "goodwill" (that is, the patient list) as there is no need for it. Patients and GPs will flock to a new specialist hanging out his shingle. In your case, the results sent to your GP and also held in your hospital file (along with histopathology) will still be a full record.

Previous history of polyps always needs an actual "eyes on" follow up colonoscopy. This is usually done every five years.

I'm not sure we found anything. This is a strange hospital.

Wife discharged. No discharge papers. They'll send them to GP and to us at home. Strange. No prescription for any medication. That's fine because the infectious disease team doesn't feel she needs further medication.

The nurse gave wife Monurol today and gave the packet to my wife and told her to buy some. How often? Once? Every week? But it's prescription only medicine.

My expert guess is the e.coli has somehow been present in her system since previous infection and the 3 days of Piptaz has done the trick.

Are you wearing thongs?

I wore sandals all of the summer as suggested by my doctor, so little wearing of socks or shoes, very rarely do I wear thongs.
I react badly to a lot of creams, including anything with lignocaine in it. Goes red gets very itchy and drives me nuts. Tried the urea based stuff and so on and lately a steroi_ cream.
Hopefully the dermatologist has some ideas, but that isn’t until the end of June.
I first noticed it in 2013 and put it down to a not particularly clean hotel in Wales, so that’s when we first tried to grow a fungus, and fairly recently also, sigh!

I suspect that may be a reason. Sandals/thongs = dry out the skin, eventually cracking occurs. I've heard the urea creams are beneficial. But at night put the cream on and wear a sock over it. Some use Vaseline and put a sock on the foot.

I was going to say wear socks with the sandals but that might be pushing it a bit far

So young...

I had my last colonoscopy 3 years ago at age 71 and was told not to have another unless bleeding occurs, but to resume National Bowel Screening Program in 5 years (from then).
