That is the trouble with US airports, you need a BP to enter, and have id checked, your DL (driving licence/se) must be the one with the star on it, meaning I guess its US state issued, and the DL must have got upgraded security features.
So much sec checking, even just to fly US dom flights.
At least the guy got tackled.
How many times has it happened in Aust, when it does, they close the whole dom terminal, and make everyone go through dom sec processing again.
Meaning the whole terminal can be closed, flights delayed for hours.
But good story tho.
Gives us a view of what the US is like.

There was an incident in the US once or twice where there was a security breach or uncertainty and they did just that.

This video was all about stopping this kind of thing from happening, but in this case it's a story more about how stupid this passenger was.

The star doesn't mean that it was issued by a state. It marks that the document is REAL ID compliant.
TSA has been trying to require any US State issued ID card used to enter a TSA checkpoint (and any US Federal building in general) to be REAL ID compliant for over 10 years. The requirement has been delayed repeatedly as many states have slow walking the process. It looks like the requirement has been delayed by another year.
Signage at TSA checkpoints in July were saying REAL ID required from early 2024. TSA is now saying from May 2025.
When it finally starts, you'll need an ID document issued by a national government (eg a passport) or a REAL ID compliant document issued by a US state/territory.

Yes.
Any passport which US CBP will accept (ie, e-passports) are REAL ID compliant and will be accepted by TSA.
