Additionally on Saturday 8 December 2018, JQ609 (1830 hours SYD down to AVV) took off at 1954. A320 VH-VFQ should arrive at 2111 tonight, 66 late.

As a result JQ610, the 2035 hours AVV back up to SYD will be delayed by at least an hour and may be in danger of landing after 2300 in SYD, thus breaching curfew unless it receives a dispensation from the Minister for Transport's delegate.

UPDATE: JQ609 projected arrival has improved to 2107 hours.

The returning JQ610 took off from AVV at 2147 hours.

Also on 8 December, JQ518 (2035 hours MEL - SYD) took off at 2145 with arrival suggested at 2257, 57 late.

Tonight it and JQ610 from AVV to SYD (see previous post) are competing to see which can land closest to curfew.

Sunda 9th of Dec sees JQ28 HKT-SYD 21 45 service depart until 4 32, arrival is suggested around 16 53, 373 behind (VH-VKD). That must have been a killer of a red-eye flight.

Continuing with 9 December, JQ510 (1050 MEL up to SYD) took off at 1155 with arrival of A321 VH-VWQ suggested as 1304, 49 minutes behind schedule.

JQ793 from MCY to MEL has A320 VH-VQH and is the 1000 hours airborne at 1044. It was to arrive at 1355 but at about 1351 had a go around so it will be several minutes later. Scheduled arrival was 1325 hours.

UPDATE: JQ793 arrived at ramp at 1408, 43 late. It then departed as JQ739, the 1400 hours MEL down to LST, taking off at 1457 with suggested arrival at 1545 hours, 40 late.

A321 VH-VWZ is the 9 December 1315 hours HBA up to SYD JQ720 that took off at 1424. Hence, arrival is delayed until about 1601 hours, 61 late.

Is it just me or does it seem like there has been a stack of cancellations lately in JQ’s 788’s?
Are they being pulled because of service issues or do they just don’t have the fleet numbers to cover?

There are many cancellations. MEL seems particularly bad. This has been going on for some time, not just the last month.

At one stage JQ was short of flight crew, and regularly cancelling the second of its two return MEL to PER daily flights. It would be good to have an update on staffing from an (anonymous) staff member.

The HKT to SYD JQ28 arrived on 9 December at about 1640 hours instead of the timetabled morning 1040.

JQ35, the 9 December 2018 MEL - DPS scheduled out at 1855 is expected to leave an hour late.

JQ44 that should arrive in MEL at 2300 late tonight (ex DPS) is delayed until an estimated 0630 hours on Monday 10 December.

The 0620 hours Monday 10 arrival in MEL, JQ8 (ex SIN) is delayed arriving until an estimated 1720 hours late tomorrow afternoon.

These four alone may not prove jase05's and MEL_Traveller's point but they add weight to the contention.

Off the top of my head there has been atleast 8 cancelled in the last fortnight and a lot of very late delays to go with that. HNL seems to be most affected in the last couple of weeks

Also on 9 December, JQ1 (1635 hours MEL up to HNL, B788 VH-VKA) took off at 1747 with storms around. Estimated arrival is at least half an hour late.

JQ530 (9 December 2018, the 1815 hours MEL - SYD airborne at 1943 with A321 VH-VWZ) looks to be arriving 66 minutes late at 2046 hours. On Friday night this flight was cancelled, while last night and tonight it was or is more than an hour late. Not exactly reliable!

Of this aircraft's last 35 sectors (over a week), 11 have been more more than an hour late while a further eight have been more than 15 minutes, but less than 45 minutes late.

Not many AFF members seem to use JQ, but it would be interesting to find out how stranded passengers were treated. Wait two days for a spare seat, or transferred to a QF B738, or another airline? No help with accommodation expenses?

It was!!!

We were a party of 6, 2 adults in business and 2 adults plus 4 year old and baby in economy. Got an sms to advise of delay but had already checked out of accommodation and had transfer (with child car seats) about to arrive. We also needed to be early for checkin to confirm bassinet seat. They opened check in at the normal time, initially most people in the line did not seem to know there was an over 6 hour delay. Two of us were Business max so got lounge pass other passengers got 300 baht vouchers for Burger King. Was told Coral Executive Lounge would close at midnight but it stayed open much later, I left it at 1.30am to take a shift at watching sleeping children so parents could stretch their legs. I was embarrassed at an Australian sounding man who was extremely persistent in trying to get entry to the paid lounge by telling counter staff his plane was delayed, his female companion was pregnant and it was too expensive, offering them about a third the price and wanting to speak to manager. Many people tried to find a quiet place on the floor to grab a bit of sleep but the announcements every few minutes were very loud. We had planned for an unexpected delay so had enough nappies and baby food in carryon. Worst part was standing waiting at the gate once the flight was called (about 30 minutes) and then waiting on the bus to get on plane (another 10 minutes), baby could be carried but 4 year old was dead on her feet. On board cabin staff swapped the business class meal service, offering breakfast (croissant or bananna bread) soon after take-off and the supper became lunch.

JQ975 PER-ADL departed 38 minutes late and will now be the last flight to arrive in ADL at roughly 2252 (42 minutes late)

JQ416 AKL-MEL (A320 VH-VFX) was just over an hour late departing and will now arrive at 2340 (55 minutes late)

JQ44 DPS-MEL (B788 VH-VKG) didn’t get away until 1716 (171 minutes late) and will now arrive into MEL at an ungodly 0204 (184 minutes late)

It may have been a torrid night for JQ users at CHC as the 2105 hours CHC - MEL JQ174 on Monday 10 December did not take off until 0605 on Tuesday 11. Arrival should be at 0731 hours, 511 minutes late for A320 VH-VFQ.

The PER - MEL redeye, JQ971 has A320 VH-VQG and should arrive at 0806, 31 late.

JQ36, the redeye from DPS down to MEL is arriving at 0827, 37 late with B788 VH-VKF.

JQ503 (0700 hours SYD down to MEL, A320 VH-VQF) did not take off until 0752. Anticipated arrival is 0909 hours, 34 late.
