Can you provide evidence, that can be verified, that QF have veto powers in the oneworld alliance with respect to new members.QF as a founding member of oneworld, could and should use their veto powers to block Oman's OW application as this application is sponsored and driven by QR. Why are QF harming themselves by not using their veto and allowing QR to coerce them?
There is zero benefit for the national carrier if Oman joins, but plenty of potential harm and risks. A lot has changed in OW since Oman first announced its intentions in 2021, and the level of tension between QF and QR has never been hotter. It's high time QF made the right move which is available to them as a perk of being a founding member.
All founding members of OW have veto powers. Its one of the speculated reasons why China Southern didnt end up joining when it left skyteam due to CX holding veto power and being literally next door neighbours. Can you provide evidence, that can be verified, that QF have veto powers in the oneworld alliance with respect to new members.
When QR first applied for OW membership in the early 2010s, they were also a “relatively small outfit” and hence didn’t catch the attention of QF who had and has veto powers. They didn’t even fly to Australia back then.WY is- relatively small outfit
WY are still a relatively “boutique” airline and I don’t see them having the desire to expand like QR do. QF doesn’t have anything to fear by their entry to OWWhen QR first applied for OW membership in the early 2010s, they were also a “relatively small outfit” and hence didn’t catch the attention of QF who had and has veto powers. Look what has happened in the 13 years since.
It’s time QF abandoned the myopia and use their lessons from hindsight and respond appropriately to this application. ME airlines are capable of rapid, exponential growth in terms of aircraft and destinations. And it’s not even WY alone, it’s QF’s main adversary QR that is fully behind this which makes this even more important for QF to reject. If it was someone else sponsoring and driving this application then maybe it could slide through.

Edit: for reference that's QF, CX, AA and BA now.
What evidence do you want? Everyone knows that QF, AA, BA and CX have veto powers as founding members of oneworld. Can you provide evidence, that can be verified, that QF have veto powers in the oneworld alliance with respect to new members.

Maybe get those who are "everyone" to provide credible verifiable evidence. Random posts on the internet are not evidence.
The oneworld alliance has four founding airlines that are still in business, including American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Qantas. One of the perks of being a founding member of the alliance is that you get veto rights on new members joining.
Sadly, probably true.True
Hopefully they are tight on their award availability

Will be interesting to see the carrier charges on redemptions though, as AC don't currently pass them on I think?
