Priority Pass in MEL - Virgin Blue and REX flights only

The Priority Pass website states the following in regard to Melbourne's 'The Lounge':


Conditions: Domestic (T3) flights only


This means Virgin Blue and REX flights only. Can anyone confirm that Qantas, Jetstar flights will mean no access to The Lounge for PP members?

N, I think it means you need to be flying Domestially (carrier doesnt matter). There's no "The Lounge" in the Intl Terminal IIRC.

PP has International Lounge access with United Red Carpet Club:

Airport: melbourne - International (MEL), Terminal 2 (International)

Lounge: UNITED RED CARPET CLUB

Location: Airside - Level 1, Satellite Area. The Lounge is not available to passengers arriving on flights to the same terminal.
Opening Hours: 08:00 - 11:00 daily. Hours vary according to United Airlines scheduled flight departures.
Conditions: International (T2) flights only - All immediate family members can enter a Red Carpet Club with a cardholder, but the number of persons who are not immediate family will be limited to two at any one visit - Cardholder must be 18 years of age or older - Non-smoking.




With Qantas and Jetstar flights using Terminal 1... my question still remains to be answered.

I haven’t tried using my Priority Pass card at MEL, but when I’ve used it a couple of times at SYD the DJ staff have asked whether I was flying and I had the impression that it didn’t matter how I answered the question. As it happens on both occasions I was flying DJ so I can’t be sure what would have happened if I answered that I was flying QF, etc.

AFAIK You don't need to be flying on DJ, and it only take about 4-5 mins to walk through T2 to T1. so distance won't be a problem.

In my past experience (I didn't renew), with well over 30 visits to MEL T3 "The Lounge" when flying JQ, QF & TT, I had no access problem with presenting said airline's BP & PP card.

I think perhaps someone in PP head office just "cut and paste" the Red Carpet Club info and subbed T2 (which as an Australian International Terminal, can only be accessed when departing said terminal) with T3. :?:

It no longer suited my travel needs.

I certainly made good use of it though, when I had it: and would recommend Priority Pass and the Virgin Blue lounges (I have visited all of them) - if they suit your travel needs.

For me, today, Qantas status/access/lounges are/is superior.

i used PP @ virgin lounge on sep trips when travelling on Tiger (aug 2010), and Korean Air (Dec 2009). however for international, had to allow extra time for customs etc as lounge is kerbside. Virgin lounge is better than United.

Used the PP in Brisbane few weeks ago while flying QF. When signing in, they didn't even ask to see my boarding pass or if I was flying that day.

I use my PP also in Brisbane from time to time and never get asked anything. Last time I signed my wife in as my guest. I wasn't even flying, just fancied some breakfast with her before her flight.

I must admit were it not for the fact that PP comes free with an Amex Platinum Card I would think twice before having one unless I was flying DJ a lot. Most of my sectors are international and fortunately mostly in J or F. But it's quite handy for connections to SYD.
