Well there won’t be as someone is clearly off to the hospital. If it had been a death, most likely they would’ve continued.Let's just hope all souls that boarded are still there to depart.
I meant depart in the sense they all get off the plane alive, mate.Well there won’t be as someone is clearly off to the hospital. If it had been a death, most likely they would’ve continued.
Crew would be out of hours.. no QF21 tonight so could be using that crew.QF63 has turned back to MEL about 4 hours after departing SYD
Edit: QF flight status has it arriving in MEL at 1730 and departing again at 1930, could be medical diversion?
Hydraulic issue after leaving SIN. Circled and returned bursting three tyres on landing.Yes - just spotted it.
Looks like that as a result last nights QF2 could not operate and as a flow on, the QF11/QF12 rotation today is cancelled.
I'd say its the opposite. They just can't throw enough money to be able to keep them flying. (Key word enough). I'd hazard a guess that the cost to expedite the 380s at AUH are astronomical.
Every major delay/cancellation is an actual big cost to QF (unless the plane is very empty).
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
or, they got a consultant in to do it for themGiven the pitiful amount QF spend on delayed pax, which is something like $200/group and will fight you all the way to a tribunal date based on multiple AFF threads if your costs are higher. The cynic in me says that an exec has done the maths and worked out that it's the lower cost option and that they'll get a bigger bonus
Heard it was a planned diversion due to predicted fog in AKL.QF4 being diverted to Nadi. Looks like far out, isn’t there anything closer that can handle a B787 assuming it‘a a bit of an emergency. Or is AKL closee?
Interesting.Heard it was a planned diversion due to predicted fog in AKL.
Looks like Hawaii would have been closer for them if it was an emergency.QF4 being diverted to Nadi. Looks like far out, isn’t there anything closer that can handle a B787 assuming it‘a a bit of an emergency. Or is AKL closee?
As of 0330am local Nadi time, it seems to indeed line up and getting ready to fly to AKL (rather than SYD direct) with an expected landing at 0645am AKL time. Bit of a weird one.
At times flights have diverted to CHC when AKL is closed. Flights from LAX-SFO. But does not happen oftenPerhaps given flight distance and loadings, QF4 was unable to carry enough holding / diversion fuel for nonstop arrival into AKL (given weather there) so the NAN stop was a tech stop more than anything.
@jb747 might be able to guesstimate the rationale.
A quick look would seem to indicate that both Auckland and Christchurch had fog on the forecast. At times flights have diverted to CHC when AKL is closed. Flights from LAX-SFO. But does not happen often
