Qantas "Take a mate to WA" sale

Qantas is selling return tickets for 2 people from SYD, MEL or BNE to PER for $598 (i.e. just under $150 per flight). Must book by 21 May and travel between 12 July to 12 December 2021 (blackout dates 17 September - 5 October).

Personally I'm still avoiding visiting WA - too risky with potential border closures - but may be of interest to some.

I think most people are still avoiding WA if they can, otherwise QF would not have this sale on at all... Well WA made their bed now they have to lie in it I guess.... even though their Premier has been back pedalling like mad on borders people are still burnt by what he has done.

I know of several hotels in Perth that have whole floors completely shut off as business is so bad...

My initial thought was .. is Rex starting flying the route?

But aside from concerns around border closures, it's also winter so southern WA isn't quite as attractive (and the north is apparently heavily booked), and also the government sponsored half price fares all over the east coast probably induced people to stay on the east coast $120 return to Sunshine Coast or $500 return to Perth? (or whatever the prices may be). Hmm.

I had a look at flight availability and it seems like just a couple of flights a day are included in the sale. And not popular times.

My brother and his +1 were coming from MEL and were told they could quarantine for 2 weeks or fly back to MEL. They chose to return to MEL and they missed a birthday party that had been planned for several months.

Not sure why everyone is piling on WA. I buggered up the long weekend dates and that resulted in +1 day (arrived a day earlier than planned) and a long weekend so an extra long weekend in PER Have passport will travel - DPRSA to DPRWA
