Don't forget to use up your 60 Qcredits regardless of the status extension. They are good until June 2022. You can buy a one-way economy fare to anywhere in Europe and upgrade to business class. $1030 for business class to Rome for me.Now that borders are opening, I've started booking flights next year, but haven't booked any on Qatar yet - because their status extension expires December 31. I think everyone in Australia is in the same situation. If they were going to make a move with another extension and keep their Aussie customers happy, I think they've already missed the boat.
Pretty much a wasted exercise if they don't.I'm checking daily to see if Qatar have extended the expiry period beyond 31st of December. I'm hoping that they do a small extension to their members due to the outwards travel ban![]()

I highly doubt QR would offer an extension past 31 December, but very happy to be proven wrong!Still nothing yet. Website showing review at the end of Dec
Likely my only return is going to be a status match to ITAAssuming I'm not omicronned, looks like my return on this will be one domestic J lounge visit, one F visit and some useful seat selection and baggage. Was planning so much more....
I should book a flight to use my Q Credits, there's a J upgrade just sitting there.Assuming I'm not omicronned, looks like my return on this will be one domestic J lounge visit, one F visit and some useful seat selection and baggage. Was planning so much more....

And the Qcredits don’t expire until June 2022, and can be used towards flights 11-12 months ahead in 2023. Australia to Europe one-way requires 55 QCredits which seems a compelling proposition, assuming of course a one-way flight is priced sensibly, in the right inventory bucket, AND with upgrade availability using Qcredits (as opposed to just biz award available - might need to call them to check). Might be better booking it as Europe to Australia one-way to avoid the Australia tax on outbound flights originating here.I should book a flight to use my Q Credits, there's a J upgrade just sitting there.
Another option might be America which requires 58 and 60 QCredits so maximising even more but really going the long way, especially to the west coast.
A day (less than 24 hours), yes. It’s possible QR are publishing a fare with a transit/stopover in Doha greater than 24 hours, so maybe… the key is that it would need to be on the same ticket. If a published fare exists then yes, otherwise no as you’d be looking at two separate tickets with more than 60 QCredits required.Interesting. I'm guessing that a day or 2 stopover in Qatar is not a possibility, while still using the QCredits?
Did you pick up any QCredits you could use for an upgrade if flying QR?I need to go to the US in Feb, and have no status on Qantas, so was looking to utilize this if they extend it.
Assuming they do, what's the best option? I'll be booking MEL-LAX-MEL. Likely in full-fare economy (company policy) and have about 200k Qantas points. Main priority is to attempt an upgrade. Best option for booking just to go via Qantas?
Yes, I have the 60 qcreditsDid you pick up any QCredits you could use for an upgrade if flying QR?
QR status won't help you with QF upgrade priority as you'd need it to be connected to your QFF account to use the points to upgrade (i imagine).
I haven't seen anything on oneworld alliance wide upgrades for a while. That was to be due soon iirc.
