Short turnarounds: Have you flown back from your destination with the same crew?

Not so crew wise but in the early days of REX flying on the triangle , I flew MEL/SYD on a Saturday afternoon landing around 3pm and flew back Sunday morning around 9.00am to MEL ,same plane, same seat , same gate , I checked Flight Radar and the aircraft hasn't operated another sector since the previous day.

By the time I was disembarking the aircraft on a status run, even the pilot was out of the coughpit to join the cabin crew in thanking passengers but I revealed I'm also turning around to fly back with them!

I forgot to tell you that you live in BNE or PER (maybe LHR), you will be able to recognize the long-haul crew because they have few staff in their bases. Even on the train, I was able to recognize them. lol

I flew to HKG from BNE and then back. No way I could remember him again. I don't think that he could remember me. That was 3 years apart.

Also Air Canada pilots - I recognise some when we flew to YVR and then back. Funny, i recognise a flight attendant who used to work for Canadian Airlines and then Air Canada.

I had a crew member on QF7 in July last year who remembered me from QF82 in Oct 2022.

On my two separate NZ status runs last year (which were only a few days apart from one another), my OOL>MEL QF881 legs were both managed by a very lovely CSM, Nickie, based out of ADL. When I turned up for the second QF881 flight, Nikkie looked at my boarding pass, then looked back at me and after a split second of confusion/realisation, beamed a huge smile and quickly followed up saying “Hello again Mr Brew! What are you doing back here?!”

On a mini-run in June last year, I flew back to back flights QF592 SYD>OOL, QF595 OOL>SYD and QF455 SYD>MEL. CSM Toby and his team were managing QF592. Turned out they were also running QF595. As I deplaned in SYD, we joked about me no longer stalking them... unless, of course, they were managing QF455. Which they were. Suffice it to say, after having chased the same crew on 3 consecutive legs, Toby wanted to have a good long chat once we were at cruising altitude

And for last weekend's HKG Lounge Crawl, I was on the June 8th QF29 MEL>HKG flight in whY. Upon boarding QF30 the next evening, I immediately recognised the crew as being the same group from the previous day. Before we pushed back, I'd already had 3 crew - including the CSM and the Cabin Manager who'd been looking after me in Y - seek me out to say hello, welcome me back aboard and ask why on Earth I was with them again so soon?!?! It also gave me a good chance to warn them about the 5 other "troublemakers" with me in J

I've done a turn around and didn't even get off the plane.

It was a DSC JASA MEL-PER-KTA status run. After take off on the PER-KTA leg the CSM spoke with me saying, 'I see you're coming straight back. Are you dropping off papers or something?'

I explained to him that I was doing a status run to get to P1. He was impressed and made sure to reserve my return meal.
As we approached KTA he asked me if I actually wanted to get off the plane. I didn't really want to, so he asked me for my return BP, gave it to the FA who was doing gate duty and those of us remaining on the plane enjoyed the FAs personal food they had brought with them for the journey.

The final leg, PER-MEL was the actual flight that got me to WP1.

Some years ago I flew BNE-BDB-BNE for a status run. We were only there for about 20 minutes. Worried look from the FA's on boarding for the return but smiles all round after the explanation.

In March 2003 flew Sydney to HK on QF127 then 2 hours later flew back on QF128. Obviously a different crew. The reason for my trip was cancelled due to SARs outbreak so it turned into a status run in J funded by my employer.

Nothing too exciting - my parents live there so when travelling with them I'll often start the trip from there for the extra SC.

There used to be some pretty decent fares where you could tack the BXG-SYD leg (and v.v.) onto an itinerary for next to nothing but that mostly evaporated when the post-COVID price increases across 2022/3 happened. There's still a few good fares that pop up here and there when setting up a multi city, particularly during sales, but it's not as good/frequent as it used to be!
