Sparkling (Shiraz or Red) Recommendations?

Well @JessicaTam the only fizz I do is champagne to get our group talking and then graduate to a lovely red. So no bubbles in reds and no pinot noirs.
Now my two sons can drink some of those beers that I hate. Some beers deserve to go straight down the drain.

I'm struggling to understand why "Cold Duck" is so expensive these days.

I've tried a few sparkling shiraz' recently and an not really impressed. How good can a fizzy red be? Isn't it for quaffing and then passing out?

In future I'll stick to real wine (and I was a big Cold Duck drinker in the day).

Yeah, another reason to hate the 70's, Cold Duck supressing proper sparkling red production, but the real stuff came back in the 80's. I think I had one glass of Cold Duck and went back to still reds and the occasional white still in those days. In 1974 I think I was still doing home bottling of (mostly) Shiraz with friends until the Farmer Brothers and the Trade Practices Act in 1976 upset the cosy wine merchant rip-offs.

Gotta say you kind of set yourself up for a response like that by admitting to being a Cold Duck (even ex) drinker. Not going to ever win much respect for your taste in wine with that admission!

The lack of posts in this thread kind of reflects my recent experiences with finding Sparkling Shiraz (ie very few bargains) and my stocks are getting low! Any recent deals anyone can recommend?

Teusner MC 2018 is good, around $50 though and that's not always available at that price.
I've joined the clubs at Mt Avoca to get the Jack Barry NV at half regular price and Grampians Estate to get the Rutherford at a good discount. The Sorby Adams Morticia NV is offered by TWC at widely varying prices, but at times can be had at just under $40 and is good at that price. At the cheap end, Salena Estate Langhorne Ck NV currently on Grays is around $10 delivered and is quite drinkable, not too sweet.

Also Peter Lehmann Black Queen 2018 is good, better than St Halletts NV, bought from My Cellars for $37.95, $42 direct from the winery unless you have club discounts.

The secret with St Hallett Black NV I think is to let it warm up a bit, too cold and it's too lean and mean.

Funnily enough I had one of these at the weekend. While I agree with RB that the Black Queen is one of the best around the price is getting up, I still liked the St Hallett a lot and at that price it’s a definite buy for me. Agree it got better when not too cold!
