The SQ response doesn't make mention of the "Mixed class redemption F/J paid at the F rate". This might alter their decision. As I understand CE's explanation it is because it is paid at the F rate. You are flying J but paying F.

the OP was on a mixed class redemption, at F rates. So the answer was directed to that specific scenario.

Im not sure how much the 'F redemption' matters... in many cases paying F the whole way is cheaper than buying two separate awards for F and then J for the connector. The passenger is saving money by being allowed the mixed class.

I wonder CE, how much of the information you are given is an attempt to please/agree with you? I'm sure you ask lots of questions and perhaps in some cases the respondent is trying their best to make you happy, and simply follows the path that is most generous so as not to upset you or inconvenience you by not knowing the correct answer.

The official response from SQ makes the most sense in terms of lounge access... the supposed ability to use the lounge daily for a week on a stopover as you were previously advised felt incorrect. Aside from immediate or next day connections, I don't know how many people would have a similar interest as you to be actively questioning the manager about lounge access anyway. The rules are probably straight forward for the vast majority of passengers... departing F boarding pass, or same arriving F with same day connection to SQ/MI.

Yeah, I agree with this logic. The only point I'd like to add is that the duration of the stopover was due to flight availability / scheduling (Silk don't fly daily to LGK) and not a request from myself. I thought as such it was treated as a normal layover, so much so that I had packed separate carry on luggage for the 36hrs as I thought our checked bags would go the whole way through.

Absolutely, I have always read this to be a quirk of the redemption system.

SQ lounge staff certainly don't give me answers they think I want to hear - questions are always framed in a manner that clearly indicate that information supplied will be to assist others and not me. Indeed I openly mention my participation on AFF and that info I gather will be shared here.

My best contact there actually takes notes of questions I ask if she does not know exact answer on the spot and leaves written responses at TPR entry for my next visit if she is not on duty. Anyways I will have almost 4hrs in there morrow morn and hopefully Satchi will be on duty and I will see what I can glean.

Only 2 pax in R on 218 tonight - currently I am sole pax in F Lounge - Lounge Angel continually keeping the Veuve topped up.

Oh and apparently the word on TPR Invitations has gotten through - as I entered Lounge desk jockey imm found and presented pre-filled TPR Invitation - hope not having to ask for one will finally keep MEL happy.

Edit: Ducks on the pond - 2 more pax just wandered in - will be interesting to see if the male or female gets the Suite gig.

CE (and others) - the 2012 RWT is stocked, and indeed featured in the latest menu, although despite of the promo re xmas dishes, i failed to see any on my flight today.

I would say provided it is pre flt and not arr access you are after it would be fine - never tried such so cannot say definitely - but I would be confident.

Just a note for SQ noobs out there, from this noob, for info ...

I have a 2 sector waitlist for F HKG-SIN-SYD (with a confirmed HKG-SIN-MEL the following day). Quite excited to receive a text saying waitlist had cleared (abt 2 months after booking, and 8 days before flight) and requesting that I log on to confirm, else the booking will be cancelled in 3 days (IIRC).

I didn't read the text closely, and my excitement dissipated a bit when I logged on to find that the SIN-SYD leg had cleared, but the HKG-SIN leg had not. I called to enquire about the situation, and was told that they would ask reservations about it (CE had already kindly put a word in for me ). Still not cleared 2 days later , so the whole waitlist will 'evaporate' tomorrow (4 days before waitlisted flight date) if the second sector doesn't clear.

This isn't a complaint or similar (I have my confirmed flights the following day), just pointing out a situation that I hadn't anticipated - that having one leg of a multi-leg waitlist clear 'early' will result in the whole waitlist being deleted possibly well before the flight if the other leg doesn't also clear within the 3 day window.

The upside is that I will have certainty of my travel dates and can book extra night in HKG and my final flight home to HBA
