Tennis racquet travel

Hi all,

I know that a tennis racquet is above the carry on dimensions. But does anyone regularly take a tennis racquet on the plane with the Jetstar etc (particularly international)? I presume it’s mostly a case of luck. Will probably check it in just would prefer carry on.
