And who has the same ideas about saving money versus convenience. My SIL would get up at 5am just to save $30 rather than catch a later flight.

Oh she leaves all the arranging to me, no questions asked. It's the little details like LAGS that she keeps asking about. It then, she's never been OS before so it's to be expected...

Amen. My parents and I work happily on that mantra! It's not even because they don't want to, but I'd rather maximise their experience so offer to do it :mrgreen:

At least if you organise the trip and you're going on it, you can take near full control.

The main thing I got from AFF (or other travel forums) is the confidence to travel and roll well with the punches. Get a feeling for travelling and getting around. If life throws a curve ball, think of your recovery options. Don't panic, for heaven's sake.

Sometimes it's better to have experienced and paid a bit too much than to pay nothing and not experienced at all.

I work still for 2 reasons.The most important reason is to keep travelling in the style to which mrsdrron has become accustomed.
The second reason is because without the administrative responsibilities work has once again become enjoyable.I am particularly enjoying the chance to interact with the newest of our medicos and students.

That's why it's a good idea to have decent super/assets. If you don't need a pension you can retire whenever you want too.

Living on a pension is not a good way to end your journey!

Our accountant says his number 1 goal is to ensure none of his clients ever meet the pension income or assets test. Hope we don't break it.

I heartily agree with your last comment. I love the interaction with/mentoring of, the younger generation. In the process, I learn Gen Y stuff from them; hopefully they learn something from me .

My goal for clients as well - I want none of them to pay more than 16.5% tax

That's my husband. I don't question his accounting / budgeting skills (we owned the farm and 1 investment property by 43, still paying off 3 other properties).

He does not question my holiday planning/budget - and sometimes I don't even tell him when/where we are going until the night before or at departure.
