Culverden is about 2 hours north of Christchurch. Worst hit area seems to be Kaikoura though.

Seeing what happened in Chch was scary as I still have many friends there and lived there for 6 years myself as a Uni student. Culverden hits too close to home as I lived there too as a kid.

My family live in another EQ prone area and scientists says it is due for a mega thrust EQ so my heart stops whenever I see a headline for a quake in NZ

And people ask why I left!

Went to a 50 year school reunion yesterday. Lots of our group are a bit grey compared with when we were 16 and 17. Don't miss yours is what I am thinking.

And I went to mine as well. A few I've seen periodically; many not for a very long time. Especially good to catch up with my boarding school contingent.

Very good turnout and was a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Me too. But it's even more blunt. I'm in touch with all the people I still want to know from high school. (two of them)
The majority of my year group were not very interested in me in school, so why would I want to see or speak to them now?

To let them know you look ten years younger than they do? :shock::mrgreen:

Oh I seriously love reunions of many types - school reunions at top of the list.

Coming from a small town in the bush may be different to experiences of city slickers but most reunions I have attended have felt more like family gatherings. Just love the reliving of stories of many years past - course you gotta add a bit of mayonnaise where possible - just fascinating finding out the life paths some of your school chums have followed - amazing how kids you had no time for at school can be some of the most enjoyable to clink glasses with.

2020 we have a 150th anniversary of the town I was born - at the centenerary in 1970 town elders put down a 'Time Capsule' which all town folk were invited to place items inside. My deceased father put a large envelope in it and told us to be opened with all remaining members of family of 11 siblings together - none of us have a clue what is inside - just cannot wait.

The school reunions to take place in conjunction with 150 celebs already being organised. Current high school Principal (10 yrs in job) was actually a class mate of mine Forms 1 to 6 and she is on a mission to have as many high and primary school students of 1970 in attendance as possible - think I'll spend a week in town for this. So yes cove - no chance I will ever miss a school reunion.

We had our 40th re-union last week. As an all girl school, makes it difficult with all the name changes to track some down, but now we just make it same weekend every year, same place for ease of passing on details.

Well the clouds parted and swimbo was awake at 3am so she went outside to check out the moon, very bright with an apricot coloured fringe. I went out a little later, but by then it had moved behind some rather large trees, still very bright. Sorry, no photos.

I walked in for and everything has been relocated.......the checkout is in the middle of the store WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT?
The busiest guy\girl in the store now is the doorman as he has to JBHIFI every bag that leaves the store.
They stated the BIG boss instigated it.
I have spoken to 3 mums\business women that frequent Kmart and all HATE IT!

I've been all over the world and this is either GEN Y\Z or someone is taking the P***!

Checkouts have been in the middle of Kmart for a long time now.

Footscray Kmart has them in the middle but self checkouts near the exit, whilst Altona Gate have them all in the centre.

Kmart have become gloried $2 shops and I have told them that in surveys.

Footscray got them last year while Altona last couple of months.

First innings defeat in Australia by South Africa. 16 batsmen out in single figures which is first time since 1912. Many other records.

I was driving to the cricket, anticipating getting there half an hour before the start. I put the foot down when I heard the score after a while. I got there just in time to see the last 5 wickets not so much fall as slide disgracefully into oblivion.

The ground was mostly empty but the Members was packed! Those of us who shell out for membership determined to get a bit of their money's worth; if any members of the Oz team or coaching staff had wandered in, it would have been ugly.
