Yes wife worked that one out a while back.

Daughter's fingernails were getting long and she was scratching herself. She would scream if wife tried to cut fingernails. But give daughter keys or a toy and she can cut the fingernails.

I really do not know why I bother booking travel in advance.

Tried to plan a few weeks ahead, locked in about $6K of airfares and accom... and boom - major changes, cancel everything and start again.

You're life is too stressful.

I don't make many mistakes when booking flights and if I do most times I stick to original booking.

I have flight end of next month that cost $89. Thinking of moving flight back a day and the cost would be $39 + $88 = $127. To book new flight costs $128. Something inside doesn't like throwing things away so will more than likely stick with original plan.

I know you can't do that but life is stressful enough booking flights in advance without having to constantly change.

Rotating two dogs through the house for a year is just not manageable, hence getting a properly trained person in to work with them. To be honest, I dont want to spend time with mum's dog. I dont like her, and I dont like being bitten (she's always been a biter). I do however want to spend quality time with my own two dogs.

Ugh I feel for you. I have no time for dogs that bite. Should have been knocked on the head the first time it occurred (the biting not the dog!) but that is the benefit of hindsight/ awareness isn't it.

Hopefully there are some answers for you as it is not fun rotating dogs at all and the stress that brings - particularly if you are away and are relying on others to keep your guys safe.

Know the feeling, that's probably the one bad thing about project / consulting work. My recent trip to Kenya, while I was "away" I ended up working for most of it. I guess you can rest when you die!

The whole concept of a honeymoon is interesting. For me I think it's a chance to basically head off and go somewhere exotic which for most people is a bit of a treat. For us regular travellers though I see it as just another excuse to get on a plane so feel it's less of a thing. Thoughts?

Kinda, though for us it meant splashing out on a resort that we would normally consider well out of our budget (we stayed at a lovely resort in Hawaii for a few nights). This trip will be flying Suites so its still a bit more lux than the usual trip.

Concept of a wedding is interesting to me (we eloped 17yrs ago).

Love a wedding but I would begrudge spending tens of thousands on a wedding and ending up with a blah holiday (honeymoon) or a small diamond ring. My engagement ring isnt huge but Ive seen smaller with a big wedding and I dont get it.

That's why we went for our version of eloping, which was having a few very close family and friends attend. ie quality over quantity, a nice location and a relaxing mini honeymoon.

I never understood the thing for rings. I have a few but not top of the range.

I always wanted to have a wedding reception but it never happened. When my wife and I decided to get married the registry made the most sense as I no longer had the desire to have the reception.

The thing that is important in my mind (and my wife's) are the 2 engagement parties. The Sunday in the village with family and friends. The Monday in Holiday Inn Chiang Mai with friends and my wifes employers.

Another reason not to waste money on diamond rings. Save 'em up for something special. If you visit the Diamond Fund exhibition at the Kremlin in Moscow, you'll see about as many diamonds as this - no kidding!! (And good luck finding any pics of the Diamond Fund exhibits in situ). Makes the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London look like a coughpy pawnshop.

We didn't have an engagement party though I think maybe some of hubby's friends did. When we got engaged my mother had not long been in hospital for an ileostomy (and for those who have read my posts, she is coming up to 95 in August). Our wedding was a country affair with mostly relatives and I think a couple of tables of friends. Our family was big on inviting the relos, all siblings, the aunts and uncles, at least 2 cousins from each family. We had about 150 at the wedding and of those I think about 120 were my side.
I remember my parents send separate invitations to hubby's father and partner and also his brother and partner as they were living together but not married :shock:
I would have been happy to elope but my mother was so excited as I was the first girl to marry.
