I laughed when I read that link with Christopher Pyne saying Xenophon was just a big ego.As they say in the classics-takes one to know one.

After that AFF's story in school about Pyne, whenever I see Chris Pyne's face, in my mind a little voice says "Shutup Pyne".

As we live in his electorate while we have a laugh about him because he is a bit of a dweeb we always say - ‘but he’s our dweeb’ and anyone who annoys the heck out of the opposition is a winner in our books.

We are not allowed dual screens - capex reasons, especially given we can use our laptop as one screen and a monitor. I circumvented it by borrowing a spare monitor we had in our department. IT then refused to provide the connector - despite having them on hand! Asked someone else and one magically appeared on my desk with a shhhh note.

Young kid at my local village shops playing the sax this morning.

Dropped $5 in his case as it takes guts to do something like that and he looked all of about 12yrs old.

Went for blood tests this morning (just routine stuff), and got there within minutes of opening and was still number 13 in line. Until number 9 bailed and shoved her card in my hand

The oldies have all been up since 4am, and queuing since 7am to be first in line!

Well, not up since 4am but I do try to be first or second in line, which means getting there 5 to 10 mins before opening.

Its all pretty civil; we stay in our cars until a few minutes prior and when the line forms everyone recognises the priority of the others who arrived before them.

I remember doing a fasting blood test as per normal and its usually a 10 minute wait at around 8.30am. Arrived one morning and the waiting room was full. With no one being called. Waited for maybe 20 minutes and still no one had been called. Several people left, one I heard him tell the receptionist, was a medical Doctor and he said he would no longer use their Lab forms for his patients. Eventually I went to the counter and asked for the forms back as I had to leave and knew it was going to be a very long time before I was called and also asked what had happened? She didnt want to say anything.

I emailed the Practice (a very large Laboratory in Adelaide) simply to give them feedback and asked what had happened as it was an unusual situation and in over 5 years had not happened before.

They called me back. Turned out that someone had fasted and turned up I think for a glucose challenge test without an appointment. These tests take around 2 hours and apparently at this lab they keep the person in the cubicle the whole time. And you have to make an appointment obviously. They did not want to inconvenience that person as they'd fasted and so took them in without the appointment. The person who called also said that they knew 'behind the scenes' there was an issue and had the Practice Manager contacted them 'upstairs' they could have sent down additional staff to take routine bloods. But the Practice Manager refused to do so and they would counsel them.

Well, that didnt exactly settle my ire - I suggested that most people there had fasted and for the sake of inconveniencing one person they had inconvenienced many. I never returned to that practice for lab tests again and also mentioned it to the referring GP.

My doctor's surgery is like this. No appointments so people arrive around 30 mins before the doors open. Unspoken rule is when you walk up, you ask who was last there and when the doors open, everyone files up the stairs in the order of arrival.

Heaven forbid if you don't respect the system and jump the queue! You will be told in no uncertain terms to get back or you get ratted out to the receptionist and she just refuses to process them until their proper spot in the queue.

Had one guy pretend not to speak English (spoke French) when he was told to not push in. So a lady in the queue turned around and told him the same in fluent French and he slunk off, and then spoke to the receptionist in perfect English...

Saw a older asian couple pushing a Coles trolley up hill with wall sheeting from Bunnings the other day. My husband said, "Thats why we never won Vietnam".

Fasting test for me, though as I do intermittent fasting, it wasnt too big a deal. Any time a person bailed, their card was handed over and there was a bit of a shuffle amongst those left. Id normally go on a week day right on opening before work but just havent had the time this week with my boss back and things pretty busy.

Had to go for a routine non-fasting blood test yesterday. Decided that after lunch would be a good time. Arrived at 3pm, signed bulk billing form, straight through into chair, out in under 3 mins.

Do a the annual tests once a year - fasting from the previous eveing.

Local opens 8am (that's what the sign indicates) but if you front up then on a Saturday morning, the doors will be already open and your queue number will likely be in the teens.

Front a ~7:30am and normally 1 to 4 in queue.

(Did the Sugar Rush Glucose test earlier this year after my swig of 'flat lemonade' was sent out to the waiting room to wait between tests.)

Just asking because IIRC he claimed he did a lot of door knocking, and if I ever move to Radelaide, I want to avoid his electorate, just in case I ever get impulsive and chase him down the street. I don't need a Criminal record.
