Here is an ironic piece of trivia, from the Australian series of survivor, the winner is no longer alive and the third place contestant was today sentenced to jail for attempted murder!

I wonder if any of the DJ fan boys would know. Looking at hotels and forgot how expensive Aus was. $285 for a hotel w/ breakfast in North Ryde (close to our office). :shock:

That is nuts.... that's what a typical downtown hotel should cost (excluding crazy event times).
 
Can you do a points upgrade for someone when not flying with them?

My other option is at the airport, but prices look much the same so better to head out to North Ryde so I don't have to navigate traffic in the morning in my dozed state.
 
Just completed the weekly shop at Dan Murphy's. A touch embarrassing when the guy on the checkout asked if I was stocking up. :shock:

Are you sure you don't have to be on the same booking / travelling with the person who redeems the points? Or, at least a son, half-brother or something like that?

Looks like it's moot point anyway. There is upgrades available on the 12.30 flight, but not the 4.30pm one. 12.30 will be too early for me.

NOOOOO! Iberia have stopped flying IB6050 JNB to MAD and on to BCN. This is what I used so often for my DONE4. Now I'm going to have to go JNB to LHR - I have to fly BA - ARGH!
 
Well it is Friday night and the news is not so good. Nothing to do with flying though.

I found out today that a good friend committed suicide on Wednesday. :( He did not go home for dinner and was not answering his phone. His father went over and found him dead in his car. :(

He came to see me in Sydney while I was in Thailand and I called him 10 days ago. He sounded depressed but I did not think suicidal. In hindsight I probably said some things I should not have said (depressing things) and mum said I should have gone to see him on the weekend. And now I am having guilty thoughts. He actually asked me for some advice as to how I cope as I have been chronically depressed for the majority of my life but very bad in the part 20 years or so. He mentioned something about how to live with a decision.

Funeral is on Tuesday morning so may still come back to Brisbane Sunday night and head back to Sydney on Monday night. Qantas prices look shocking while Virgin still has some last minute cheap flights.

Don't know the full story but not good. I really do not understand what would drive someone to that point. May find out some details on Tuesday....

Don't feel guilty about it. It is likely that there is nothing you could have done or said which would have changed their decision.
