Storks used to be common here but left when the Soviets drained the malarial swamps. Now there are these fakes atop many of the minarets.

Another trip highlight. The tomb of Timur (Tamerlane) in Samerkand, Uzbekistan. Constructed About 1400. Magnificent, and better pics in the trip report.

(A couple of days late, sorry). Before we drove up the Trollstigen we passed through the Trollveggen (Troll Walls) which is - to quote - "The Troll Wall is the tallest vertical rock face in Europe"
