Alpine Rally for 'classic' cars last weekend, ironically some stages on Friday and all of Sunday were cancelled due to the very serious bushfire threat in the area of Lakes Entrance.
It rained most of Friday night, meaning wet conditions on Saturday and the cancellation of the last two stages. We hadn't anticipated the rain, nor the cold, didn't even bring a proper jumper nor raincoat. Won't make that mistake again.
The pros in the orange vests get all the best spots.
A few from the 'super special' run at Bairnsdale Speedway. It was very difficult to get shots of the cars on the speedway due to the catch fencing around the circuit.
Sobering seeing the fires in NSW from the air - seeing the sheer number burning and spread of them. Second photo was the fires down the South Coast this morning then the Blue Mountains tonight (first photo) and a rather intense sun. As we came down through the smoke level, could clearly smell it in the plane and visibility on landing and across the tarmac was limited.
Bit of a win for me today, I managed to snag an office at the end of the HI at Dunstall Park with the much sought after view of the overflow car park. It was a race night so plenty of cars to see. I have tried to get across the atmospherics by taking the picture at night.
