There has just been a tornado alert issued for Dallas (10:45am LA Time)
Not a good time to be flying in that area.
Don't know if its a "US over reaction" or not, but after the disasters in the last couple of days, I can't say I blame them.

Gets me to thinking about the recent QF changes to make DFW their new hub.

Whilst I don't know a lot about tornado history in the area, at least SFO was a pretty safe bet!
I guess I'll learn more about US weather over the next few days as the TV channels are full of it (the weather I mean!)

Having had to pull off at a two storey wooden motel north of Memphis one late afternoon we had the warnings go up to red alert. The twisters turned day into night and they touched down around us and without a basement concrete shelter it is very, very scary.
I have always thought of DFW as being an excellent hub for AA so it was logical for QF. They had thought Chicago but it never happened. SFO direct was lovely and yes I was disappointed the economics of that route did not work out.
I do hope DFW works out as a great second option to LAX.
When there is adverse weather it pays to keep clear of it so refueling or load adjusting are the two options.
