Vaccine - Booked in (UK)

Our local GP clinic here in London has called us to make appointments for the 1st dose jab. So hubby is having his this Thursday and I will have mine this Friday - both at a health centre (not local GP clinic). They said the 2nd dose will be 12 weeks later.
Hope Australia will start vaccines soon.

After the vaccine, we will scramble for flights back home (Sydney). By our calculation, we should be fully vaccinated by mid-May. We will start looking for flights from June onwards. We have moved out of rental flat, and are staying at a ultra luxury flat of a forum member (a few of you can guess) - who have generously offer us until we can get flights home. We are deeply grateful

Not sure which one, but will find out and report back. A lady at Church had it last month said she got the Pfizer - they told her when she got the jab.
Fingers crossed tightly for flights home ...

Update: hubby had his 1st dose of vaccine yesterday, and I had mine over an hour ago. Both of us had the Pfizer - they told us, and gave us a card each showing when the 1st dose was administered, and space for the 2nd dose later. The cards also show that the vaccine was Pfizer and batch number. Now we just wait for the 2nd dose in 12 weeks time.
So far hubby has had minimal side effects - with a sore arm where the vaccine was administered. I keep my fingers crossed for minimal side effects also - will know in a couple of days. They said the side effects would be more severe after the 2nd dose, instead of the first dose. They also said it would take 21 days for the vaccine to work properly.

Not sure if true but side effects suggest that the vaccine is working to produce an eventual antibody production. Not the sore arm thing but later symptoms. I have never had any side effects from a flu jab so wonder if I ever actually respond to it.

That's what i have read as well - side effects are an indication that the vaccine is working and producing antibodies (article in the New Scientist). A year ago I had the flu vaccine (never had one before) and I was sick with aches / pains and tiredness for 2 days

Update: we had our 2nd Pfizer jab yesterday at a clinic - not the same place where we had our 1st jab. We had to book appointments via the NHS text link - given 3 choices, but 2 were not near train stations. When we got there, a queue already formed, and we got our jab within half hour. On the board inside the clinic, they displayed the type of vaccine and batch number for that day. Apparently, I heard someone said yesterday it was the AZ vaccine.

Hubby has had little side effects, but I have had minor aches and light headaches. Took paracetamol. Should be OK this weekend. Not going to see anyone for at least 2 weeks to get the jab to work. Our 2nd jab was 11 weeks after the 1st jab.

Feeling much better today, had a reasonable night sleep - spring in my steps So the side effects only lasted one day.
