The one I remember from 1979 had a small plastic black bull attached to the neck - which is why I bought it! Cost around £3 in U.K. We were postdocs at the time so flushed with funds and could buy quality wine!

It was not of high quality. But I liked the plastic bull!

I agree, it was not of great quality but I would be interested to taste it again (a la recherché du temps perdu) and see how it fares today. It may well have had a clean up in the post Communist Hungary. Much of Central Europe is capable of making very good wine.

The '16 Home Hill Kelly's Reserve Pinot Noir and '16 Tolpuddle Pinot Noir have been released

Thanks Steady, I made my pilgrimage out to Home Hill yesterday to pick up some supplies - I did have to call a temporary halt to my buying ban, but some things are worth it. The 2016 Kelly's Reserve is very nice - not quite at the same level of intensity and depth as the 2015, but still a very elegant wine. I even managed to talk them into parting with a couple of bottles of the 2015 after being told that it was sold out when I was last there in mid-May. I think they raided the restaurant stock for me.

Now, I'll have to try and track down some Tolpuddle.

The Tolpuddle is available from The Gas Works now, but will probably be available cheaper somewhere down the track

I've tried it at Vin Diemen and it's light. Lacked the depth and intensity of 2014/15 so I'll be giving it a miss this year. Suits me just fine, will spend the budget on Marius instead.

I haven't seen any published reviews of the latest Tolpuddle PN yet, doesn't sound like the '16 is a good example from mini2's post above - a good reason to hold off and let the dust settle before jumping on some.

Due to moving earlier this year and doing our first vintage in Tassie we were a bit disorganised and missed getting our wines bottled and in on time for the Halliday book. BUT this weekend we have just been blown away by Halliday, he reviewed both our wines in the Weekend Australian Magazine and in case you missed it I thought I should share them! We are truly humbled and overwhelmed by this and all the support from our customers/believers - it really is dream making in action.



2016 Chatto Isle Pinot Noir

Cherry and plum both contribute to the bouquet. The palate is altogether serious, with a remarkable mouthful built around the foundation of precisely calibrated tannins and hints of forest. Great purity and intensity.

98 Points!!! (We are ecstatic.)

2016 Chatto Huon Valley Pinot Noir

The bouquet is still locked up, the palate anything but: intensely and immediately expressive, dark cherry/berry fruits held in an embrace of fine but persistent tannins and an airbrush of French oak. Its balance and length guarantee a long future, with spices bursting through.
