After the firsr morning, I dont go out of my way to get these from WW

The absolute savings/extra points are relatively small in the scheme of things. (When Coles Gift MC $250 were going at 10% off you could make some case as it was $90/5 cards).

Sure, I always check if I'm in WW or might pop in one if I'm driving past and parking is easy

If I needed them for Points Club, I'd likely buy some Qantas wine.

I have never managed to find a GC at a metro. I check the elizabeth st one on the way in to work sometimes for entertainment and not once have I ever seen stock.

The $ saving isn't much....essentially Im buying 5000 Qf pts for $7.95 or 0.16c per point which I will buy all day

Not questioning the value. Its just the absolute amount. Lets say you struck gold and found a store with 2 of each. Its still only $18.20 cash (admittedly tax-free) or at a very generous valuation of QF points $36*. Even with multiple accounts, the time and fuel spent driving to other empty stores (add on the time spent redeeming) makes it pretty hard to justify searching high and low

(*I suppose you could add on any reduced Canberra surcharge and the incremental value of an Amex Edge supermarket points earn if you were looking to justify)

Yes it's really great immediate value when multiple, in this case 2x$500 cards are purchased and on multiple accounts.

Then the QF points really grows quick and the option to redeem for J int becomes a reality, well maybe just Y.

I'm happy to plug along, buy what I can find with Coles & WW, points add up still.

5000 QFF points for $15.90... which is worth about $90 to me.

Plus I use them for ATO payments which saves me about 1.2% in ATO processing fees so for $1000 so $12 saving.. so net $3.90 spent to get the cards...

I have 4 accounts and I have 3 Woolies within a 10 min drive from me, so can do all 3, door to door from home in well under 1 hour and about 10km driven. If I want the 4th Woolies I go back later in the day or the +1 gets them while she shops..

End result, for me, YMMV... $15.60 extra $ spent, buying the cards for 20,000 QFF which is worth about $360 for 1 hours "work" tax free.


Coles was easier for me, so when they had 10% off it was great, as the Store Manager and most Duty Managers know me, I could buy all the cards in 1 go, using both FlyBuys cards... but the 10% off days are gone

You miss my point entirely (my valuation was 2c/point in lieu of cash saving, noting yours is 1.8c) but I guess your local stores must be much better stocked than mine.

After the first morning, my hit rate for stores is less than 20%. Just a guess but I'd be lucky to find 4 cards in 2 hours searching from day 2

I enjoy the game but sometimes the opportunity cost is too high in terms of time. Day 1 at WW its definitely worth hunting; after then its opportunistic

But yes running around spending time/effort/money for hours to get cards is not worth it especially if it's hours

2 weeks ago stock was harder to get, but this time my locals have had full variable load cards each day

Yet to visit today as I never shop Sat mornings or want to go anywhere near a shop

Would not have been anything to do with industrial action, gift cards are zero value until sold, so they are distributed through merchandising teams, not dc’s

Just to be pedantic, these offers are extra money on the card. So 5% extra is actually a 4 76% discount which is not as good as the 5% discounts you can get on cards like Dan's.
