Worse than feet on bulkheads

That's why it's called 'Y'.:)

And if the seat/row was empty, no problem to stretch out? They clean the seats between flights.

Seems to be more and more common. I saw several people doing exactly the same on my latest flights and it was all over the flight. Common courtesy has gone out the window...
 
Going into my own business now I fly where the customer pays, so a split between the front and back of the plane. Recently in Y from BKK I sat next to a couple coming back from a "yoga" holiday and wow, similar vision to the photo in the first post, but this was synchronised stretching! Could be an Olympic sport, but on TG in Y, two to three legs sticking up in the air is a sight!!! The poor guy in front kept seeing these feet flash past between the window and his headrest, and not one bit of "excuse me" or anything, it was just time to do exercises. Once the stretching was complete both settled into the folded feet position on the seats where I had to ask for some of my seat back! They were nice people, but absolutely oblivious to the people around them.

Socks on long haul, I only put my shoes back on when I go to the toilet so my socks don't get covered in P!ss. Domestic don't usually put my feet up, but no guarantee. If they are up it will be shoes on. Never have no shoe or socks on and try to restrain myself from placing feet on tray tables and surfaces where people eat from. :P
 
If it was me was sitting in front of this passenger, I would have fully reclined my seat. If you're using the armrest I'm getting mine back.
 
I think the point being made against the shock and outrage of 'feet on bulkheads' is that when rows of seats are available in economy most of us would stretch out and sleep on them - bare feet / socked feet and all. What's the difference between feet on seats and feet on a bulkhead? The seats themselves aren't cleaned after each flight.

It's a good point, but if I were to stretch out on a long haul to sleep, I wouldn't put my (socked) feet on the seats. I find it just as comfortable to hang them off the side (not in the aisle (sleeping like that is not the most comfortable in any respect). I also believe it's about how a person acts in public. As an example, up here in PNG it is acceptable and frequently practiced, to pick ones nose in public. It's somewhat disconcerting talking to a person who has no problem listening to you whilst half their hand is lost up their nose! What's right and what's wrong is largely debateable, but for me, resting ones toes on the armrest in front (even when someone is sitting there) and placing feet on tray tables makes me see red and I have let my thoughts known in no uncertain terms to the perpetrators and I would have no hesitation in doing so again. Slipping shoes off is not a concern for me and I believe it's even recommended to do so, but then taking that a step further and dangling those feet over everything or anything is just plain rude and discourteous to others and placing them on armrests or tray tables is a health issue and demonstrates nothing short of stupidity or arrogance or both.

Last flight back from LHR - MEL for me in Y I felt something tickling my side, I instinctively grabbed it - hard. It was the foot of the girl behind me. Needless to say she didn't do it again.

The number of people who plant their dates and plonk their dirty dog-poo covered shoes onto seats which other people (including them) have to sit on is unbelievable.

The seats at the end of the Sydney carriages, by the stairs, are basically just used as foot stools. I'd stand before sitting on one of them I think.
 
On flight from CBR-SYD last week, the person next to me in Y continued to browse the internet during take-off, obviously ignoring the 4 notices to turn phones onto airplane mode. How do people respond to this behaviour? Ignore or offer some instruction?

I would mention how vulnerable the plane is at takeoff/landing and the possibility of interference from electronic devices.

For me it depends on how I perceive any potential danger to my safety or security. If I don't assess anything I don't say anything.

She does not seem to have her seat belt on. That is silly. And Hillaria should have had yoga pants on with that position. :)

Actually looking more at that 'news' site it seems like a load of rubbish.

Yeah, this story has been doing the rounds for a few weeks now. (just read its dated 31st August)

They probably weren't first with it. But if I was her neighbour, OMG! would have flipped out
