On the last 2 PER-SYD sectors on the 747, the AVOD hasn't worked properly.
Last month, AVOD was out for more than 50% of the trip.
Yesterday, AVOD was out for more than 80% of the trip.
Have l just been unlucky?
Has anyone else has these problems?
I flew BNE-MEL last night departing around 1910.
I was listening to one of the music stations on the IFE (this was a non-AVOD 738) and I had it turned up pretty damn loud, maybe maximum (using the supplied el-cheapo headphones in Y). I was in 4C, 4B was vacant and a lady was in 4A. Well into...
Flying CBR - MEL this morning I was sorely tempted to post about how diabolical the little channel dial is on the armrest radio having to use a pen to get from the crackly ABC onto anything else, but didn't.
Coming back this afternoon I encountered a 737 with the new fit out.
Seats felt a bit...
You may have noticed that in 2011, as our new planes have joined the fleet, they have been missing an IFE system.
There has been LOTS of conversation and speculation on what we will implement.
We have today announced that we will be collaborating with industry leader, Lufthansa Systems, to...
Knowing that we have QF employees lurking around here, here is hoping they see this thread.
Something I was thinking which would really improve IFE would be a "shortcut" to the moving map. Right now when you wish to switch between a movie and the moving map, you need to exit out of the movie...
Kept trying to find some sort of updated reviews or more importantly photo's/videos but cant find any.
Virgin Australia (domestic) is supposed to have updated seats and new 737-800's whilst Jetstar is supposed to have retrofitted their a320/a321 with new slimline seating.
I have never flown...
In Travel Daily today is a short note that QF would be testing live streaming of inflight Entertainment via iPADS
The trial will be ona sole 767-300 starting next month
Cant find comments on this elsewhere as yet
oops Aus bt carrying the article...
Maybe things are a little clearer now re DJ and their IFE options:
http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2011/09/13/361974/interiors-rockwell-collins-to-re-enter-in-seat-ifec.html
Rockwell Collins is announcing today a strategic U-turn that will see it re-enter the market for new in-seat...
The "red" inflight entertainment system used by Virgin America and V Australia will be installed on the A330's.

This has obviously passed me by as I have only been on the older metal for a while... The new 737-800 I took ADL-SYD today had no IFE?
Had noted that on the older metal IFE was now free.. So what happened no more IFE on VA?
Not that I use it all that much, but it seems to be going a bit...
I am on an international aircraft tomorrow, hmmm, might have to see if its accurate reporting, cannot believe its as popular as they say:
A cheeky documentary about the female cough is raising eyebrows among Qantas passengers. The SBS program The Female cough Explained is available for...
I've just flown BNE - Singapore - Perth
On each leg in J the IFE has been faulty. We couldn't get away on time on Sunday as the IFE needed rebooting, even after this is was still faulty, with only 3 movies on offer and a numberr of seats with badly flickering screens. On the way back last night...
So fellow AFF's, what would you like to see on Virgin's new IFE system when it is rolled out?
My list:-
- AVOD
- Seat back
- Big Screen, take up the whole seat back
- Loads of Music Channels, TV Channels, Foxtel, Movies and games!! However in economy i would charge for movies.
- Order your...
Hey,
I flew back on QF16 LAX-BNE the other night, on boarding the aircraft I noticed they already had the IFE enabled, better yet it let me watch an episode of the simpsons whilst waiting for the other pax to board rather than simply stare out the window and flick through the mag which is what...
Recently flew in economy from LAX to SYD on VA2. To my horror my seat had no working inflight entertainment or reading light.! Crew were apologetic but could do nothing as the flight was full. Not sure if the nose end was though..So there I was in complete darkness after dinner service until the...
Anyone else travelling as of Oct 1 notice the new "branding" of the "intermissions" between features on domestic main screen IFE (737, 763 etc)?
Mimics the "new" QF ad music:
YouTube - Qantas 2010 Ad
No more of the "You are now........ on Q...." branding.
This October Mr and Mrs Rooboy are flying to the US with the mini-roos in tow (aged 4 & 2). After a few days in San Diego, we plan to fly east to RDU to catch up with friends.
Any suggestions on domestic carriers with good in flight entertainment?
When flying with family here in OZ, DJ wins...
Hi All,
I have just booked to go to CNS sometime in the future with DJ, but I didn't realise that the flights (HBA-BNE-CNS) were both on a E190.
Anyone out there got any idea what kind of entertainment systems these bad boys have fitted? I know there is no live2air, but is there an audio...
